• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Usually I have no problem using VLC to record screen, but lately when I record a movie, it showed blurred screen.

Then I turn to a video converting tool(recommended by a friend), which also has the screen recording function. This time it works.

Just wondering why? I used VLC for a long time, and encountered this problem for the first time, do you guys have the same problem? Must I have the two mentioned programs at the same time?:\

If the movie is a commercial DVD, then it's very likely copy protected, VLC will not record it.

Given that you can take screenshots of DVDs played by VLC, a Quicktime Screen Recording may work.

Thanks buddy. But I don't intend to turn to the third one (Quicktime Screen Recording) for help. So I just keep both VLC and MacX Video Converter Pro. Enough for me currently.
