Hi. I've been using AdBlock but a friend suggested I use AdGuard. What are your views? Thanks.

I have been using AdGuard (for Safari) for a few years now. When I first installed it I was using one version of AdBlock and there are a few different versions of AdBlock.

I'm a fan of AdGuard.

In its day Adblock and its derivatives were top dogs, but with the passage of time, I feel they are less reliable/controllable. And, again in my opinion, the same applies to Ghostery.

I must state that I have no connections or associations with these products other than as a fee paying customer.

Thanks guys. I've installed the free version of AdGuard from the link above and choosing to download via the Apple App centre. Could you please tell me if you have ticked all the boxes for all the extensions as per the photo attached.

That's a great question...

I always read what each option does. I elect to uncheck the options that can read everything.

Hope that helps.

I use adblock plus and find it better than other but still useless ad blocker. Letting a lot of ads through but I don't have the money to pay AdGuard. I have tried adguard and it is really good but costs money.

I don't know what the current state of this free one is, but last I used it a couple years ago, it caused me a lot of issues. I can't recall what the problems were (I have a post about it somewhere). I want to say it had something to do with under-the-hood changes in Catalina, maybe even Mojave. Anyway, I wound up switching to their paid-for AdGuard for Mac. It runs in the menubar and hasn't been problematic in the least.
