In fact, I had already seen that rigmarole and decided that I didn't want to know!
I was hoping there'd be an easier way within 11.1.
So I'll leave things as they are.

I agree. I would rather my Air Drop files go to a specific folder other than downloads, but it seems Apple has other ideas.
