In Mail (16.0) on my MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019, 12.4 Monterey), on the left I have a list of mailboxes.
At the top there used to be one called “All Inboxes” but this has suddenly disappeared.
The in-coming messages to my 6 e-mail accounts are still present in 6 individual in-boxes that are situated below.

The current display is:
*Favourites: within which are: VIPs (never used), Flagged, All Drafts, All Sent
*Smart Mailboxes (I don’t use this)
*On My Mac (many, many folders here for friends, clubs, car, projects, gas, electricity etc)
(Then, below this and one above the other, my 6 different e-mail accounts, one of which is i-Cloud)

I would like to go back having “All Inboxes” at the top, above Favourites, but am hesitant as to what to do.

All in-coming e-mails irrespective of which e-mail account went into this one (now-missing) “All Inboxes”. And they also went into the respective 6 e-mail boxes that I mention above. I did not (and still do not want) to have in-coming e-mails automatically diverted into the specific folders within “On My Mac”. I prefer move them manually from time to time.

Sorry if the above is a muddle but help in restoring the original set-up would be appreciated.

Try this:

Move your cursor up to "Favourites" and hover there. To your right, you will see a "+" inside a tiny circle. Click on that and one of the options is "All Boxes". Choose it.

There is also an arrowhead. Make sure it is pointing down rather than ">".

One of those two methods should work.

OK Ian and many thanks for your help on this ... as on other ... occasion(s).
I've now got "All Inboxes" back and things are as before.
Just one tiny niggle ... the retrieved "All Inboxes" is now appearing, not at the very top, but at the bottom of "Favourites". OK, no sweat and I can live with that, of course. But can I put it back to the top again?

Just tested this on my iMac.

You can click/drag any mailbox, and certainly the "All Inboxes" and place it where you desire.

Here's a tip for you that I saw on a woman's t-shirt while vacationing in Michigan last month:

Recent studies have shown that women who carry a little extra weight have a longer life expectancy than men who mention it
