Hello

I played Playstation games , when I was younger (PS1, PS2) - but this is my first attempt at gaming on my MacbookPro.

I downloaded the latest OpenEmu emulator and a couple of PS games from CoolRoms.
I used The Unarchiver to turn the roms from .7z files into .bin files (as the tutorial instructed)... but that's as far as I've got.

I open OpenEmu, the screen says "Drag and Drop Games Here". I drag them in, get a bar which scans them - and then nothing. I can't seem to load them into OpenEmu. I checked preferences and created a folder which matched the library (Library/Application Support/ OpenEmu/Games Library) - put copies of the games in there, but nothing ever happens?

I realise that I'm probably making a classic beginner's mistake, but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, CB

PS: I have the actual PS1 discs of the games. Would I be better ripping them and trying to load them in?

I don't see where it says to convert to bin files. It does have a section on using bin files if you have them.
Did you read the part about creating cue files? I'm thinking you might be better off ripping the games yourself (assuming that's legal?).

Thanks, cradom.

Yeah, I saw the page about .cue files. That was going to be one of my next moves. But this is such new territory for me, I thought I'd ask around a bit, first.
Most of the help pages I've visited are on more advanced matters, dealing with issues after the games have loaded. I've fallen at the first hurdle!
There is a help section on the OpenEmu pages, but they're down for maintenance, at the moment.
(Do I really need to join another forum?)

I think ripping the discs is legal, provided it's for my own use? (Not 100% sure, but will check) - but, I also thought that the roms which I downloaded were (in effect) ripped games to suit the emulator.

Yep, I'm in out of my depth. This will be a slow learning curve, but I hope to be able to have some fun at the end of it.

Thanks again. Regards, CB
