Hello,
I just bought a macbook pro (mid 2009 model with snow leopard) off of ebay, and it came with aperture installed on it. It worked just fine when i opened it...but then I updated it from version 3.0 to 3.0.3 and then when opened, it gave this message:
Aperture cannot be opened because of a problem

Assuming something went wrong with the update, I went into time machine and then restored the original 3.0 version back into my computer, yet it gave me the same problem. What's this about? Can it have anything to do with snow leopard? I heard some programs don't work in it...but it wouldn't make any sense for Apple to release a product that doesn't work with its current OS.

Thanks!

I am running Snow Leopard and have Aperture 3 also with no problems. So, I doubt if it is an OS conflict.
I would reinstall from your Aperture Program disk and re-enter the Product Serial number when prompted.

Too many devices to list
Open up Terminal (/Applications/Utilities) and type the following:
Code:
open -a /Applications/Aperture.app/
Change as necessary (that command assumes the Aperture app bundle is in your /Applications folder and is simply called Aperture). Do you get any sort of error message in the Terminal window?

Terminal doesn't say anything after I enter that in. However, Aperture still brings up the same error message.

I actually don't have the disc or the serial, I bought my computer off of ebay, and Aperture (and final cut) were the only programs that didn't come with discs or serials...

Both would be considered pirated copies without the discs. Hope you didn't pay this ebayer anything for those apps being pre-installed because they are worth nothing without the discs.

They've already likely used the discs to install them onto one or more other computers. I am not at all sure what Apple has setup to deal with pirated software. It very well could be that the serial for both of those have been cancelled if this guy has used it on a bnch of machines.
