I just got an emailed receipt from Apple for automatic renewal of Facebook Supporter, whatever that is. When did they start charging for Facebook and how can I stop this? It came right after the latest iOS update last night.

Go to your iCloud account and look at "Subscriptions" to see what you are subscribed to. You can cancel anything you don't want. Somewhere in using Facebook you authorized this subscription, so whatever it was that triggered you to need that subscription will stop.

EDIT: And what update came out last night? The most recent update to iOS was 14.2.1 that came out more than a week ago.

I updated to 14.2.1 last night after getting tired of getting the "could not update because you weren't connected to power" notices. Then I suddenly get this email this morning.

They are not connected, but thanks for the update. Just go and unsubscribe as I described.

Looks like a scam to me. Ignore and delete.

But if he doesn't unsubscribe, he'll get charged again. If this was an email from Apple, they have charged his account. If it's not, when he checks his subscriptions, he'll see he's not subscribed and then can ignore the bogus email.

That also occurred to me. But Jake is correct; if the OP goes to Subscriptions in the Apple iCloud account - it will either be there (if genuine) and can be deleted.

If not there, treat as highly suspicious. One thing not to do is Click on "Report a Problem" because that might take you to a fake site and encourage you to part with passwords.

So, if the OP went to such a page and signed up, that's the subscription that now needs to be cancelled, or if he still wants the page, paid.

Well maybe I clicked on something I shouldn't have. Who knows. I've cancelled it now. Just seems weird that I get a new 12 Pro and a short time later get billed for something like that. Probably did something wrong during setup. I have noticed that most apps ask to be updated about every 2 or 3 days now. Thanks everybody and Happy Thanksgiving!
