High Sierra does not have Network Diagnostics (an application that helped you determine the health of your network). In my case, it showed the status of: Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Settings, Network Settings, ISP, Internet, and Server by assigning each entry/item a green, yellow, or red light. I liked to use this app even though I did not understand the meaning of every item it was supposed to be checking. As I began looking for another method to check the status of the same items I could not understand why the app would check "Network Settings" (which I believe are software settings that apply only to wired connections) when I was using Wi-Fi and "Wi-Fi Settings" is also one of the items on the list. Can someone explain the difference in what the app was checking when it checked the "Wi-Fi Settings" and the "Network Settings"? Thank you.

I'm sorry I don't know and welcome to the mac-forums.

Some member may have the info you want, but in the meantime the web may have some info you want using some sites as:

Or try some of the hits with a websearch like this:
how did Apple's Network Diagnostics app work

But really, those two sets of settings are quite different and check different things and are quite separate as to what they do.

And the Wireless Diagnostics test is still there by holding Option while clicking on the WiFi "fan" on the top bar. I just tested that and it's working on my HS.
