Hello,

I am using Apple Remote Desktop 3.4 in our corporate environment to push software.

When I go to All Computer, I see 100s of computers where Current Status is "Screen Sharing Available".

Yet, I cannot copy configuration files (Manage > Copy Files), or push software (Manage > Install Packages) to these 100s.

Is there a work-around? Taking control of each individual computer would be time-consuming, and disruptive to the end-user.

Thank you.

I'm having the same issue with the most recent version of ARD. Haven't nailed down the issue yet, but I'm finding I have to do most of my pushes from a 3.3 version we have on an Xserve in the data center.

You're getting "Screen Sharing Available" on these systems, which means you don't have permission to copy or install software, only remote control. You can try reapplying the ARD settings (Manage->Change Client Settings) remotely. We've set up a local admin user on each system. I use those credentials to manage everything else. On the 4th screen in (Incoming Access), check Yes on "Do you want to set access privileges for local users?" Continue. Click Add, add your local admin account, grant full permissions and click OK. Continue to the end and click Change.

I tried these steps, but failed.

In the last window it asks: Run task from

* This application
* The Tast Server on this computer

When I select either option I get error, "This task will fail on all 16 target computer. This task is not authorized on any of the target computers.

Rats... Well, if you can SSH into the computers, you can try the following command (all together - the forum splits the lines). Change "administrator" to whatever your local account name is.

sudo /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Resources/kickstart -activate -configure -access -on -users administrator -privs -all -restart -agent

Solution

Go to ARD server preferences, and in the General tab, in the only list at this tab, scroll down and check all the settings. And then restart ARD.
