I have a laser printer, Canon LBP6030w. It has been a champ. Absolutely love it.
Suddenly, after updating my MacBook Pro to BigSur it stopped printing ... except for odd things, which I finally identified as graphic elements within a Word Document. So - I tried to print a picture. NO PROBLEM! I have tried to print a document in Word - blank except graphic elements. Tried to print the same document in PDF - same story. Turn the PDF into a JPG - no problem! It prints fine.
Completely IRRITATING.
I am connecting directly to the printer via USB.
MacBook Pro - Big Sur version 11.2.2
I have tried uninstalling the printer/driver. THEN - reinstalled the printer and driver.... AND the problem persists.
ANY SOLUTIONS for me??

Frustrated,

Joe

Hello, Joe. Welcome to the forum.

Have you tried powering off and then back on the printer? Printing the images but not text sort of implies the fonts are messed up somehow. Maybe open FontBook and just see if there are any errors?

Thanks Jake - Indeed I have powered it off and on again. I don't *think* the fonts are messed up, because they print fine on my ink-jet printer. It seems specific to my darn Canon Laser Printer. It's been such a great workhorse, I hate giving up on it.

Check the paper size. I thought (and had) resolved paper uptake problems on my Canon Pixma then it again refused to print, saying the paper was the wrong size. For some reason the 'document' - a label from ebay - was classed as a US letter and would not print on basic A4.
