Hi. I am suddenly having an issue where I can't connect to websites, and am getting the error "Secure Connection Failed." I then went into my network settings, under the Proxy tab and found this info, which was alarming, as I don't recall changing or would intentionally bypass my Mac proxy :

Bypass proxy settings for these hosts and domains
*.local, 169.254/16

Anyone know what the deal is ?
Thanks for your help !

Thank you for the helpful link @Cregswaap - I just saw that I had Software Update Check shut off in Little Snitch. I must have accidentally hit deny when it popped up and wasn't really paying attention.... Hopefully allowing the connection will solve my problem. But at least now I know what the issue is exactly, and how to fix it. Thanks ! :)

I gave up on Little Snitch a long time ago. It can be super-useful if you're trying to determine if someone installed a keylogger or something like that, but that hasn't happened and isn't going to happen to me, and otherwise it just ridiculously gets in the way far too much to be practical for the non-paranoid. I'd suggest you uninstall it unless you fear some form of software intrusion that may be using some of your bandwidth.

All I ever "caught" were perfectly normal upgrade checks or authorization checks made by programs that needed to do that.

Well, that is exactly why I did install it, was because I did find a keylogger on my machine, and to restrict outgoing traffic and use specific ports only. Little snitch isn't the issue because I turned it off and it still wasn't connecting....

@Cregswaap - Weirdly I tried to follow the direction on the link you provided, and the Enter the following hosts under "Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains:"
swcdn.apple.com, swdownload.apple.com, swquery.apple.com, swscan.apple.com...etc., and my computer won't allow me to enter anything in to that box even after putting in my system password. Not sure why.

Anyone have any idea why this is ?
