I have already used my Leopard installation discs twice on my imac. How many times can I use them to install Leopard or can they be used as many times as I like? I have a friend who needs to wipe his computer but cant find his discs to reinstall, can he use my discs? I'm afraid that I can only use them to install 3 times or something and I'll have to buy them again so need to be sure before I borrow them to him, :\

Thanks!!!

On your OWN Machine that the DVD's came with, you can install as many times as you want. BUT, it's against Apples EULA to use your disks on someone else's mac and also the Install DVD's that come with your Mac are Machine specific and will only work with that exact same model and spec Mac.

So the answer is no for that usage.

I had problems with my late 2008 Macbook that required reinstalling Leopard and applications. When that also failed, the Apple store gave me a new Macbook, but did not supply new DVD's. Do you think the old DVD's would still function if I were required to reinstall on this new Macbook? That is, is the DVD model-specific but not specific to the machine serial number?

Read the post just a couple ahead of yours:

Plus, you've already started your own thread on this topic so there's no need to dig up this old one now.
