Canon i9900 not recognized by OS 10.8.5

Bought a new iMac i7 with Fusion Drive but my older Canon i9900 printer isn't recognized. Can't find the driver online either. Anybody have a fix?

Your best bet is to try the Gutenprint 5.29 print drivers. According to their web page it does support the i9900. Go to this LINK and read up thoroughly and then download install the driver. Let's see if that works. If not, you'll need to buy a new printer. The Canon support page says there are no drivers for Mavericks.

Your new computer probably came with OS 10.8 or OS 10.9 installed. According to the Canon website...the last Mac OS version that Canon provided drivers for your printer (Canon i9900) was OS 10.6.

This printer was originally released sometime around mid-2004. Which means this printer is pushing 10 years old. Eventually older hardware (printers) are no longer supported. Either by the original manufacturer (Canon) or computers it was designed to work with (Apple Computers and the Mac OS).

Bottom line. It's very possible that this printer is no longer compatible with the newest Macintosh computers & the newest versions of the Mac OS.
