Try dragging the photo's you want to upload to your desktop, and upload them from there. I find it easier this way, and should work no problem.

Ok, do a "get info" on one of the files and look at it's permissions. It may be that they are locked for some reason.

(highlight the photo, go the the finder and click "get info").

Report back.

What format are they (jpeg, png, etc>>>)?
Also, it may seem a stupid question, but you are logged in to your Photobucket account?

Very strange. I'm out of ideas at the moment. Will come back if I think of anything.

What type of files are you trying to upload? What is the file extension and type? Generally files will appear gray when they're not an eligible type of file to upload.

How about taking a screenshot of what you're seeing and sharing it here? That way we can better understand what you're doing.

solution

hey there

not sure if you still needed help with this, but i worked out that all you need to do is add the .jpg extension to the file.

for some reason osx can read the file as a jpg but the websites etc need to see the .jpg file extension, which osx handles differently for some reason.

so yeah, just use automator or do it manually to add the extension n they will upload fine.

I've had the exact same problem, I spent almost three hours on the phone to apple but seem to have found the culprit - might work for you.

Firstly, creating a new administrator account worked and I could upload from there, if that is an option you'd like to explore.

But I really didn't want to do that so we worked out it was an internet plug-in. I literally had to take all the plugins out and re-put them in one by one to find out which one it was. Turns out it is a plugin called nslQTScriptablePlugin.xpt - it is related to quicktime but doesn't seem to be causing me any issues not being used. Apparently installing Firefox installs a new version of it which seems to be causing problems. I did install Firefox so I assume that's where it all started.

If you go to Finder, Go and open up computer, open the HD and then open Library and go to Internet Plug-ins, if you have this plug in try moving it to your desktop and putting the original file in the trash and see if that works.

I hope this helps!!

Otherwise, call Apple because they were really helpful and I think it would do well to let them know that so many people are having issues (I searched for this problem on google and found so many people with the same problem and no answers)

I just had the same problem. I have just bought my iMac and had just edited some photos in Photoshop and saved them and couldn't upload to Facebook as the files were greyed out. Did what was suggested above and it worked. I hadn't put the jpg file extension on because am use to PC.

Thanks teejaylol for your help.
