Clear App Cache on iphone

I need to clear app cache on my iphone 5s with iOS 9.3.1. Many of my top used apps are reportedly taking up more space than the app size. For example under facebook it says documents and data 184 mb. What is the best app to do this and preferably for free? I used to use iFunBox but it says that it can't clear cache anymore without a jailbreak. I am estimating that I can save about 1 gb and maybe more. I need to free up space and I don't want to jailbreak or reinstall apps.

Facebook is notorious for being a space hog. Best way to regain the lost space is to delete the app and reinstall it. Unfortunately, this is a temporary fix because it will grow again. Twitter is another one. So are BBC and CNN News apps.

To see which apps are using up your space, look in Settings/General/Storage & iCloud Usage/Manage Storage.

I don't use FaceBook myself, but read today that if you get rid of the app and use the browser version, it won't use a horrible amount of space.

Yep best and easiest way, backup to iTunes, delete the app using the iPhone (you will get a warning saying this will delete all associated data) then reinstall from iTunes. As KevinJS says above check Settings/General/Storage you may find a few more candidates for this process eg FB Messenger, other browsers, news apps, What's App etc just be aware that some of this information may be valuable like message history, cookies for web sites, passwords, contacts and preferences.

Yes I know where to go and that's where I found out what space is being used. FB isn't the only one but it is the worst. Are there no programs like iFunBox?

There may be, but only if your phone is jailbroken. Apps are sandboxed, meaning that they may not interact with each other, so it is not possible for an app to affect the space or the data being used by another.

I see, well as far as I know there aren't any there may be some online services that claim to but I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.
