Running under Yosemite.

This keyboard shortcut is supposed to minimize all windows, but I get no response to it. Can somebody tell me if it works or not?

Works for me but I'm using El Capitan 10.11.3.

I am on Beta 4 right now of El Capitan and it works perfectly. I wonder if you have a keyboard issue with one of the keys.

It's a brand new keyboard. I'm planning to upgrade to El Capitan soon. Let's wait until then and see if it goes away. Thanks.

Works for me also in OS 10.11.3 but I never use it because I use Hot Corners (I chose top right corner) to access Mission Control which shows all open windows in a minimised view giving me access to all active applications AND desktops. You can even move app Windows to other desktops. If you are unfamiliar with this have a look at Hot Corners on the Desktop and Screen Saver preferences window. I really love this feature for maximising my workspace on the 13" MBP.

Okay, the whole story: I'm the IT guru for my ex (Barb, with Yosemite) and my daughter (Holly, with Win 7), and I use TeamViewer a lot when working on their systems, so I don't have to travel to Barb's house or put up with Holly's noisy undisciplined kids (right across the street).

Both of them have the tendency to have umpteen windows open simultaneously -- Barb set the record recently with 21 open windows! (Don't ask!) I just want to get these windows out of my way so that I can get some work done. Win 7 has a nice little rectangle in the upper-right corner which minimizes all open windows, leaving me with the Desktop -- perfect! That's why I need Command-Option-M. I'm not familiar with Mission Control, so I took a quick look, and I don't think that's going to give me what I need. (I just took another look at your post, and it sounds like what I need. I'm going to have to get into it deeper to figure out how to make it do what I want.)

One other problem: Once I get C-O-M working, then I'm going to ask around for something that will "expand all minimized windows" when I'm done, to make it easy to reconstruct their garbage piles.

@BudVitoff

When you get Cmd+Opt+M to work, it minimises the windows into the Dock. Clicking on them reopens the windows.

Now, I don't have a solution for the Cmd+Opt+M not working; but if all you want is to access the Desktop, you can press F11 (depending how your keyboard is set up, it might be Fn + F11). This will make all open windows disappear. Pressing the same key restores them. It's not a perfect solution, but see if that helps you....

It's never too late to give thanks. The F11 method is perfect for my purposes.

Have a great holiday season!
