Hello,
I am using business issued laptop running Monterey
I have two options to connect to business network: Citrix and Cisco AnyConnect. I prefer to use Cisco. It worked fine for a long while.
Two days ago I startled to experience the issues with Cisco.
It could connect to VPN server but fails to establish connection.
The weird thing is that it’s not consistent. I mean some days it works and some it doesn’t.
I contacted my ISP and they didn’t find any issues in my home network. I contacted my business IT and they said that nothing has changed on existing VPN server and they don’t have a problem to connect
What I could try to do from my side?
Thanks

If your Internet connectivity is not affected or impacted when not on either VPN, then your ISP is not the issue.

If things go poorly when you're on the VPN, the issue is with that. Your IT department can't just say "works for us" and walk away, that's not what IT is for. 😃

If things have been working well before, you might want to uninstall the VPN and re-install it. Don't just drag things to the trash for this process though, ask your IT to do that for you and validate things are working.

I think I would suggest contacting Cisco Support on this and I can guess what they will say, Uninstall and Reinstall the app and make sure you have the current version, not necessarily in that order. You could save time by doing that yourself.

That even more so points to an issue with your company's server. I wouldn't contact Cisco about this, they aren't going to be able to help. It's your IT folks that have to figure this out and also not much we can do to help either.

I would like to try to re-install application. I don't have access to media, but I see in Applications folder the following:

Will it be safe to 'Uninstall application' and then reinstall it?

Thanks

The uninstall might work, but you'll need the installer again and you'll also need all of the profile information to establish the connection.

Couple of thoughts... Has the Cisco AnyConnect app updated recently? You are running Monterey - I would make sure it is up to date AND make sure your version of Monterey is compatible with the version of Cisco AnyConnect - especially if that app has updated. If all looks good then what Raz0rEdge (Ashwin) suggested would be my next steps.

If none of that works I would head for your IT people. I work in IT and I know at my place of employment it would be my job to get it working. "It works for us" would not be accepted.

That was my point.
I did not install it before ... I mean Mac came to me with already installed app.
My expectation is that setting for my profile will remain after I uninstall and will be used during new install.

I just was asking as Monterey is an older OS version and sometimes can cause security issues to be triggered. Hopefully a reinstall will work but I would not be surprised if the profile information needed to be re-input.

hi Lisa,
Yes, Cisco AnyConnect was updated recently, I believe around 2 months ago. My company works on Monterey, and they control all levels of app.
After Cisco AnyConnect update ... it continues to work for me for around 2 months. Something has changed last few days.
Sure ... it could be anything because my laptop is not controlled by me, and company might update something else that could have impact and so on.
My concern is that I will un-install it but won't be able to install it back because I don't know all profile settings and so on.
I hope that setting will be saved somewhere internally and re-used but I am not sure ..

I would take it to IT. It is their problem!!! That is their job. With your laptop locked down it will be very hard to do much to it including uninstalling then reinstalling the Cisco app.

Since I have another option to connect to network ( I could use Citrix ) I am inclined to monitor it for some while.
My gut feeling is that something has changed in environment (either my MacBook or company’s network)
My experience also points that sometimes new updates could fix it.
I am inclined to conservative approach

Ah, well as you did not install it I agree with others here, refer to your IT people.
