Apple Remote Desktop costs $80. Remote Management is free. You can see why I'm confused.

What's the difference between the 2 other than the cost, obviously?

Can I use Remote Management to remotely connect an iPad to a mini or MacBook Pro?

I installed Google Remote Desktop on my iPad & Mac mini. I'd read that there's no sound when using GRD. It's true. I was able to hear a YouTube video on my mini but not on my iPad when they were remotely connected, even though both devices were in the same room. I researched TeamViewer & it doesn't have sound either. Does Remote Management have sound?

Hello? Would someone please answer my questions?

This morning I was able to share my MacBook Pro display with my Mac mini display. I was a bit confused at first. When I moved the laptop cursor, I could see it move on the mini display. I could see the mini cursor move. When I tried to open a program on the laptop from the mini, nothing happened & vice versa.

What are the settings for my laptop AND for my mini so that I can control my mini from my laptop?

Remote Desktop is the program that permits access to you computer via another computer, say at work etc. I would think Remote Management is when you allow another to take control, e.g. if you are using Apple Service to find a fault or problem.

When I click on system preferences > sharing, I see screen sharing, file sharing, printer sharing, remote login & remote management. If I click on remote management & then click on screen sharing, OSX tells me that screen sharing is controlled by remote management. Initially I was confused between remote management & remote desktop. I don't want to spend $80 on remote desktop. I Think that it is used for administrators to install software & stuff.

I've checked "wake on LAN" on my mini. I want to be able to connect remotely to my mini from my MBP.

When I connected this morning, I saw the MBP desktop in a window on my mini display. I want just the opposite. I want to see the mini desktop in a window on my MBP.

I've watched a number of YouTube videos about back to my mac. They conflict. Some state to click on screen sharing but not remote management & others state just the opposite! Some say to click on the screen sharing button. You can see my confusion.

So... What are the sharing settings for my MBP & mini?

What does System Preferences say when you open 'Sharing'?

In your System Preferences > Sharing, you should see some text telling you briefly how it works,
i.e.: Remote Login = Remote Login lets users of other computers access this computer using SSH and SFTP.

Remote Management = Remote Management allows other users to access this computer using Apple Remote Desktop. And then use the setup Settings…

The rather expensive Apple Remote Desktop is for admin type users to use to completely control a client Mac once it's been authorized and allow full access as Harry mentioned above.

i.e.: the ability to completely take over and control a users remote Mac that's using the client part of the main Apple commercial administrator software from any Internet connection/location.

File Sharing & Remote Management are checked on my mini. I currently don't have my laptop on.
