I have a SanDisk Ultra 32GB SD card that was provided with my Nextbase 122 Dashcam. The Firmware needs updating. What sort of card reader and USB connector do I need? My iMac is a 2017. OS is Ventura 13.7.4

SD card readers for the Macintosh are cheap and plentiful. I have one sitting here that I only paid $15 for, and it will read several formats of memory cards. An example:

However, before you get one you need to contact Nextbase and see what is required to read the SD cards that they use (they may not use a common format), and whether their updater software runs on a Macintosh.

Thanks. I tried the Nextbase virtual assistant but have yet to establish more details about my 3 year old dash cam. If it is a Series 2 I can update the firmware without needing a card reader.

Forgive me if I am incorrect with my information, but as far as I know the 2017 iMac (both 21.5-inch and 27-inch models) have built-in SD card readers. Specifically, they feature an SDXC card slot.

Is the card reader on your iMac not working?

Also, does the Nextbase support website not have a firmware update you could download directly and bypass the completely unjust connect your iMac to the webcam with the appropriate table.

My apologies if I am getting confused with your situation but some of it wasn't making much sense to me.

EDIT
I just came across this little bit of information you might be interested in:
To update the firmware on a Nextbase Dash Cam for Mac, you'll typically use the MyNextbase Player software or update the dash cam via the SD card. The MyNextbase Player can be downloaded from the Nextbase support page and used to update the firmware of your dash cam. Alternatively, you can download the firmware update file to an SD card and update the dash cam via the SD card slot.
Here's how to update your Nextbase Dash Cam on Mac: ...
