Is there anyway to control line spacing in Mac Mail?

When I copy and paste into a message, it will often add line spacing to 1.5 to 2, which makes it hard to read. I can't figure out how to prevent that, nor how to reformat it..... help?

Are you copying formatted or plain text? Try using just plain text (text from Textedit is formatted[RTF] unless you specifically change it to plain).

I find one easy way is to just click the "PlainText" icon in the message bar, and it will change all text to plain default setting. See shot:

Edit: If you use El Capitan, I don't normally, but it's still about the same, have a look here:

PM,

Yes, that works, thanks. However, I don't have that Icon on my tool bar. How does one customize the tool bar and get those icons to show. Tried in in the drop down menu, but didn't work.

Related question:

How does one create an email with graphics, different fonts, precise spacing, pictures, etc., like we see in all the email ads?
And one that will size properly when the recipient opens it?

Here's how to customize the toolbar:
1. Open a new message in Mail
2. Go to the View menu and choose "Customize Toolbar".
3. Drag icons for the tools you want into the toolbar.

Step one is important. If you choose "Customize Toolbar" without having a new message open you get a different set of customization options for the toolbar.

Thanks for that extra bit Slydude, I'd forgotten that each "view" and Mail mode, new etc., had their own "customized toolbar". But it makes sense.

Basically Seevee, you do that using Rich Text in Mail.app. Or use more specialized software.

I haven't spent a lot of time customizing Mail's toolbar so I didn't notice that until I started to answer member Seevee's question. When I tried the steps I thought would work I didn't see anything that matched the screenshot you posted. I was a little confused then suddenly something clicked and I wondered whether the options presented were context sensitive.

Now I'm wondering if that is true for other apps? Especially the Apple apps.
