I have noticed the typing cursor in TextEdit has disappeared. I can still type and "move" the invisible cursor inside words to edit them. (sorry if this doesn't make sense >.<)

The cursor is present on all other applications I have tried, including all browsers, Stickies, Pages, and Mail.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Maybe some corruption but try this first:

Use the Finder to navigate to...

/Users/your user name/Library/Preferences

Copy the following two files to your desktop.

com.apple.TextEdit.LSSharedFileList.plist

com.apple.TextEdit.plist

After copying, delete the originals. Restart TextEdit and see if the cursor is back the way it should be. If not, restore the two files you moved to the desktop. You may wind up reinstalling TextEdit to fix it but first let's see what happens when deleting the plist files.

Regards.

Ahh! thanks it worked!

But I only saw the com.apple.TextEdit.plist and not the first plist you mentioned. I did the copy/delete of just that plist file, and that worked, so thanks!

Just wondering... why does this happen?

Glad you got it working. As to why it happened, who knows? Maybe some corruption like I said in my first reply. But at least you now know how to fix it. Have fun.

Regards.
