Ok.. so today, my mac freaks...

Dreamweaver MX just won't open.. it's pissy..

So i tried reinstalling.. and every time I load the installer, as expected it ask me for my password.. and then promptly tells me that I need to have admin rights to install... but I am the admin.. matter of fact I;m the only user of the machine..ever.. what gives?

The only thing I can think of is check System Prefs and see if something's unchecked or somehow it thinks you're logged in as a regular user :)

You don't need Norton AntiVirus.

Do a search for Dreamweaver in finder and delete the Preference files for it

Ive tried to get rid of nortan.. but it like impossible or something..

Also, I deleted every dreamweaver file on this machine.. to no avail. Both the New demo file and my old install file give me the same grief.. Ill see if I can locate some lost pref file for dreamweaver..

It's also with flash and fireworks too... beats the crud out of me

Try restarting the computer and hold down Apple + S as soon as it begins to turn on

When all the unix commands are done loading type in

/sbin/fsck -f

Hit enter and let it run through. This is repairing the disk

When that is done type in exit and hit enter to get back to os x

If that does not help try creating a new user account with admin abilities to see if you can install it there

Go to System Preferences -> Accounts

Click the plus sign at the bottom of the list of users and then go into Security...allow this user to administer the computer

If they don't allow you to do that then something has been corrupted with your username

Did you try logging into that account so you it looks like you are at a brand new installation and install it there? or did you just use that username and password while trying to install on your current name

Take your iMac Restore DVD's that came with the computer and insert the first disk. Restart the computer and hold down C as soon as it turns on. This will boot off of the CD and bring you to the installation. When going through the installation you will select the hard drive and there should be an options button which will bring you to a menu asking how you want to install. Select Erase and Install

Yes you can do an archive and install but I always recommend just doing a full erase and install to make sure it is completely clean
