I've jumped through all of the hoops trying to get this to work, but still nothing. Sent an email to their support. Anybody have specific experience with this app and this specific EHD?
From reading the instructions It looks like I have to install something and REMOVE something else. Here is the quote from their site about the issue:

“MacOS only, Samsung Portable SSD driver and some of 3rd party drivers, including SATSMARTDriver are mutually exclusive. If you wish to work with SATSMARTDriver, please remove Samsung Portable SSD driver and install SATSMARTDriver as following instruction.”

I think I've done this, but still nothing. Any help is appreciated.

I've got two Samsung T5 SSDs that I use for backing up (Time Machine and CCC) and I also have the latest registered version of DriveDX.

To be honest, I do not use DriveDX to run health checks of my T5s and see no reason to do so. And I'm certainly not going to remove the Samsung Portable SSD driver in order to get a SMART status for the drive.

However, I do use DriveDX to run a health check on my Seagate ST EHD (spinner drive) and it works great.

Precisely what I do with my Samsung T5 SSD. I did not remove the Samsung SSD Driver. I don't use Drive DX at all.

I have never been able to get DDX to read my SSDs. You are correct in saying that they advise their own smart drives. I have not had much success with that either.

So I’m with Admin chscag and Rod on this. Forget it and carry on using your SSD.

I have contacted DDX support to see what they'll say. Other than that I am seeking to get a refund for my purchase. Going to contact Samsung and create a support ticket and will mail the drive to them to check it out to see what the issue is.
It has a three year warranty, so they'll either fix it or replace it. Hopefully. Just bought it in September.
All I ever did with that drive is occasionally forget to eject it when closing the lid on my laptop.
I know that's irresponsible on my part but I can't believe these things are so fragile. Before I bought it, everything I read said that they were very durable and would last and be reliable for years.

I assume, given that you are trying to use Drive DX, that the drive is having other issues as well? Does the drive show up in other utilities (Finder, Disk Utility, etc.)?

There is no way Samsung is going to repair that drive. More than likely they will issue a RMA and replace the drive. Do not mail the drive to them, wait for them to issue the RMA.

And by the way, improperly ejecting any type of drive can lead to errors and/or damage to the drive. Doesn't matter if it's an SSD or spinner type drive.

I just started to get worried when I'd run First Aid and one time it would work and then the next time it wouldn't. I then connected it to all of my other laptops running different OS's on each and it behaved the exact same way. When I told Apple support about it they said not to trust it and get it checked. So then I read some things about Drive DX. But it wasn't until after my purchase, unfortunately, I did not read the VERY LENGTHY faq on their site about problems and issues with their product and the T5. Oops. I am f'ing stupid and do this all the time... Smh. On another note, on Samsungs site there's a software product called Magician that does exactly what I need, only problem is, it's a windows only software and does not exist for Mac. Nice.

@sturg

You are not stupid. We, all of us, have to trust something or someone otherwise we’d all go mad. You had one bad deal. That is not a reflection on you, nor, necessarily on the company, as the occasional duff product will come off the assembly line at some time.

Our job now is to see you get everything the way you want it. :);)

Too many devices to list
If the goal is to see if the drive is good or not, you don't need anything but Disk Utility here. Look for the S.M.A.R.T status:

Now, if the drive has seemingly failed, I'll come back to something suggested by Slydude earlier: does it show up in Disk Utility?

Don't know. Don't have it. Sent it to Samsung for them to check it.

Did you request a RMA from Samsung before sending it to them as was suggested?

Samsung called today to say they are sending the SSD back to me. They couldn't find anything wrong with it. 2 messages sent but no response from DriceDx tech support. Will do as advised here by my Mac forums family and just use it and make sure that I eject it correctly before closing the lid on my computer.

sturg, if all you ever did, "with that drive is occasionally forget to eject it when closing the lid on my laptop." That in my opinion should not cause any problem. Both my wife and I have peripheral drives more or less permantly connected to our respective MBP's, HDD's and SSD's. Unless you actually turn the Mac off closing the lid does not sever the connection. If it did we would both be getting error notifications daily to say our USB device was not properly ejected.

Have to agree there, Rod. When I see this behavior, I start wondering whether the cable or drive enclosure is failing.

There is no drive enclosure involved with the Samsung T5 or T7 drives. They are an all in one unit.

Thanks for the correction, Charlie. That's what happens when I try to answer questions half awake.
