Here is what happened. I usually keep my charger plugged to the wall contact (i think its called socked, sorry my english is not the best) and i only plug my phone to the charger. Now few moments ago i had my phone (iphone x) plugged and charging and since my cat started playing with the cable i felt worried she will pull down the phone so in the hurry i unpluged the charger from the contact but the phone remained plugged to the charger. Than i directly replugged the charger to the contact but it stuck a little,i heard the phone charging beep like two times which meant it went on and off charing and when i pressed it harder like a litte electric spark came out (i've seen that happening a lot when i plug my older phones and other electric devices) but i felt worried. Could that somehow damaged the charger of the phone itself. There is nothing visable but i felt worried . Thank you :)

I doubt anything is wrong. The best way to find out is to unplug the phone and use it for a bit to make sure

I understand why you did things the way you did but in the future that's probably not the best way to handle things. Next time remove the plug from the socket before trying to reattach the charging wire. Best practice would be to unplug the cable from the phone, unplug things from the wall, connect those to parts then re-connect the end that attaches to the phone.

Thanks for the reply Slydude. Yea it was tricky situation but it happened. I've done that thousends of times with my old samsung. I don't plan to do it again with the iphone ofcourse. I too doubt anything can happen that way but still you know when the phone is brand new you worry for everything, like a little kid haha. Thanks again :)

I agree. You don't really expect anything bad to happen, and it probably wouldn't, but why press your luck?

Nick is right. Most of my Chargers and AC adapters do that. I can see a small spark and hear a snap.

Nice addition Dennis (see the spark & hear it).:)

I see & hear the same thing with many of the outlets in my place. But I don't seem to remember this as much with my previous place. So I guess this sort of thing may vary.

The house I live in unlike my other place is all solid concrete block, even the interior walls are that way! It's crazy and all the wiring is old 2 wire Knob and Tube with no grounds anywhere! I had my brother run a #12 ground wire to a water pipe outside into my room through the block wall. I ran a ground from that to the new 3 prong outlets in here so I have a solid ground. Before that no surge protector or UPS would work properly. Houses like this are a pain to re-wire.

I agree with Nick, what yousaw is normal if the wall outlet is live. In Australia we have switched wall power outlets so plugging a connected device is no problem as the outlet is dead until you switch it on but if it is live all the time it will arc as soon as the pins on the charger are close enough and that will cause a spark. It should not effect the device as it is on the other side of the charger but it might damage the charger if it occurs often enough.
