Hi;
I have a new MacBook Air [Sonoma 14.2.1] on which I am not having much luck accessing Telus emails using Mac Mail. I also have a desktop iMac and iPhone on which I am accessing those same Telus accounts just fine. I have two Telus accounts.
After signing up the new internet accounts on the MBA [with the GMail IMAP and STMP settings] the accounts show up in the Mail app but with a triangle ! icon. The mailboxes are empty. I have tried multiple times [adding and deleting the accounts] to no avail.
Other accounts [GMail and iCloud] are working fine on the MBA.
The Telus website and forum have not been helpful.
Any insights would be much appreciated.

That must be frustrating for you, the little triangle you are seeing simply means the account is off line.
In most cases your email provider will usually provide manual incoming and outgoing settings for cases where the automatic feature fails.

In Sonoma all Apple says about adding email accouns is in this article Add an Internet account
eg.
  1. In the app on your Mac, click the app’s name in the menu bar, then choose Add Account.
For example, in Mail, choose Mail > Add Account.
  2. Select the account provider, then click Continue.
If you want to add an account from a provider that isn’t listed, such as a mail or calendar account for your company or school, select Other [Type of] Account, click Continue, then enter the requested account information. If you don’t know the account information, ask the account provider.
  3. Enter your account name, password and other requested information.
  4. If you’re adding an account that multiple apps can use, a dialogue appears in which you select the apps you want to use with the account.
As your Telus accounts are working on your other devices it's obviously possible to do and really Telus should be more helpful. Perhaps someone else can chime in on this topic, personally I dont use the native Mail app having had similar issues with it over the years.

Thank you Rod for your reply. Yes, I have followed the above procedure and have the accounts showing up in the Mail app with my other accounts. However, the Telus accounts are the ones showing the ! in triangle icon with empty mailboxes.

Hmm, would you be willing to try a different email client, like the free Thunderbird for example. Thunderbird — Free Your Inbox.
Just as an experiment mind, if it works, an I'm guessing it will, then you are going to have to seek more info from Apple or Telus.
Personally I use Spark and have done for some years now but then I never did like Mail. Prior to Spark I used Airmail which is a great paid for app but did not like their business model.
At the end of the day I have found 3rd party email clients to be better suited to my needs and preferences.🎄

I have my own domain and email addresses, hosted by a leading hosting company. I am also running both Apple mail and Outlook with IMAP protocol. I sometimes find the two email address using my domain have the triangle, but only in one client, but a refresh, or closing down the client and reopening and all is well.
@Rod I may look at Thunderbird, as currently both my current clients are far from satisfactory.

Well, not knowing you already had more than one email client running I assumed you were only referring to Apple Mail. Do the accounts that you refer to with the ! only occur in Mail? Have you tried adding them to Outlook?
Also, Thunderbird is a good free alternative for testing purposes but not the best alternative if you're willing to pay.

Oh, is Outlook the online version? If so, sure, try Thunderbird, it will/should rule out or identify Mail as the culprit.

Your Mail application, are all your email accounts enabled and online according to the > referenced accounts > Accounts tab?

Your mention of Eudora brought back some good memories of an excellent application that served me very well for many years .
