Hi

Hope some can help my parents mostly(I just try to fix the mess caused by Catalina).

My parents have been using Entourage as mail-program, but at start of Catalina update it told me that Entourage would need to be updated after Catalina, thought it was a minor update and not so big a change from Entourage to Outlook.

Can't access mails and contacts on Entourage, since it can't be started on Catalina.

Is there a free way to get hold of emails(transferred to Outlook) and adress-list/library, or is the mails and adresses lost?

Hope some can help.

Welcome to our forums.

Updating to Catalina may not have been a good idea for your parents. Catalina will not run any program which is 32 bit. Entourage which is 32 bit is a very old email program by Microsoft and is no longer supported. You mentioned Outlook, are your parents now using Outlook? Older versions of Outlook (2008, 2011) will not work with Catalina for the same reason.

There are ways to transfer email and addresses to Outlook from Entourage, however, it can not be done from Catalina. You will need to be running a version of macOS prior to Catalina.

Do you have a backup from before Catalina, and is that backup a bootable one (not Time Machine, but some other backup like Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper!)? If so, and if you can boot from that backup, it may be possible to get the information without having to completely roll the Mac back to whatever was on it before Catalina. If you don't, the options get very, very limited (basically one).

Are the emails still on the email server? You may only have to set up a new account in Outlook, then all the emails will populate from the email server.

Who is/are the email provider(s)?
What version of Outlook are they using?

MacBook Pro 13” early 2015 -iPhone 13 Max Pro - iPad Pro
I’m sorta in the same boat - I’ve been using Entourage 2008 for my emails - My emails are on Comcast & those will come on over - My issue is that there some personal folders that I want to keep. I haven’t updated to Catalina & running on Mojave. I updated from a 2008 MacBook in 2015 to a 13” MacBook Pro (early 2015). I’ve searched around & it sounded like I’d needed to update to 2011 Office for Mac - which is difficult to find & some sketchy sites ( I understand MS doesn’t support it) - all I use from the office suite is email/Outlook. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Why do you think you have to update to Office 2011? Entourage was not included with Office 2011 and only the Home and Business version of Office 2011 includes Outlook. You may be able to find an unopened copy of the Home and Business version of Office 2011 on eBay. But you have to be very careful about any version of Office purchased on eBay as it could be fake and will not activate with Microsoft.

Also, Office 2011 apps including Outlook will not run on any version of macOS later than Mojave. Mojave is the last version of macOS which supports 32 bit apps.

You might want to consider giving up on Entourage - Outlook and instead use Apple Mail or another mail app that is supported. The Mac App store has several nice mail programs to choose from but in my opinion, unless you have business needs for mail, go with Apple Mail. The price is right and it works well.
