OS Sonoma 14.7
In Brave browser 1.71.114 I am now being blocked by error Code5, and no amount of deleting history/cookies/rebooting fixes it. I use both Brave's own purge, then OnyX incidentally, which usually works its magic, but not this time.

Note: I can (obviously) access M-F, and several other sites, but online shopping poses difficulties.

Anyone else? Advice please.

Irony supremo - thank you, but that link shows as a Code5 Error. I'll persist, and try reporting directly to Brave. This is a quite recent malfunction, and I cannot recall any updates that might have caused it.

One oddity is that a shopping link's mailer (specials) page from a Bookmark shows and stays, but using a new tab to link to that same shop's generic home page prompts the Code5 Error.

Changing the browser to Chrome may invite tracking unfortunately, and I prefer not to use Safari.

Update - this is in Brave incidentally.
•The Code5 Error *appears* to be confined to a specific server, or set of servers, whose operator hosts various shopping websites. The reason for that thinking is how Brave behaves normally with some shopping sites, but not others.
•I'm trying to become more familiar with Safari, because it appears to work better than Brave with those problem websites.
•This is a very recent happening, first noticed during the week with a hardware store. What happens now is that after deleting cookies or Resetting Brave, or opening in a Private Window, and I'm prompted to allow disclosure of location (yes), the following window has the Snap and Error code.

Update #2
The problem has been isolated to setting location, ie. where one lives. Supermarkets and hardware stores in particular use the practice in order to ensure (so they say) the correct bargains/deals/specials for the correct location.
After deleting browsing data (often a good repair and tune-up method), one has to reset one's location in the browser and website. It applies to Mac-Forums as well, the identity cookie has to be reset.
Now, with Sonoma and Brave Version as shown earlier, resetting location in Brave causes a web page failure called Code5. I don't understand why, but it's only happening with this OS and Brave version.
Coincidentally, if running the older 2018 Mini with Mojave 10.14.6 the page/location failure in Brave does not occur. Everything works as it should.

hughvane, are you using a VPN because I have Express VPN on full time, location; Melbourne Australia and the only time I have problems is when the VPN is temporarily off for eg. Zoom Meetings and I forget to turn it back on.
I just cleared all browsing data, turned off my VPN, restarted Brave with VPN off and logged back into this site no problems.
In Brave settings there are Location Settings. I have mine set as "Recommended" ; Collapse Unwanted Requests.

I'm using macOS Sequoia.

What I do get, and this was a simple search for Honda Motorcycle Batteries using DuckDuck Go search engine with VPN off is this.

VPN on;

Note; the above search was confined to Australia. So, Mac-Forums loads without VPN, a search for Honda Batteries in Australia does not.

This kinda gels with Update #2

Rod, for me anyway, your post above is a staggering reminder of how little I know about what goes on in the background when searching the Web.

A very instructive post.

For me too, I know what happens when I do a. or b. but I don't really understand why. 🤭

Thanks Rod, you and a Mac mate have both suggested extensions, but I don't have any in use - as far as I know. A quick check of My Extensions in Brave shows nothing.

Further, as mentioned earlier, this issue is very recent. The mind asks all sorts of questions, eg. what website might have 'planted' something? I'm using a workaround with Chrome now, and may try DuckDuckGo, which I thought Brave used anyway, but I see it uses a Chromium search engine.

It's only some sites that throw up the Code5 error, which may lead one to think that it is a server issue. Server hosts hardly ever admit to problems, 'mustn't let on y'know', it's usually a third-party that exposes faults.
