I think it would be way easier just closing the MBs lid if you want it to sleep.
(I know this cause I already spend two hrs on it once trying to get it to work)

When I close the lid the little light light stays on and bright. When I manually put it to sleep it (for lack of a better way of saying it) gently pulsates from bright to nearly off. It leads me to believe that the screen is sleeping while whatever else stays awake.

If I'm wrong with this assumption please let me know, I just always noticed that when I close the lid it goes to the pulsating light, but after I have been using geektool after I close the lid the light stays on constantly unless I manually sleep it.

I use GeekTool too and when I close the lid it goes into a (Full sleep?) and the light starts pulsing.

You're right. Just takes a little longer than before. Guess I need to learn some patience.
