Help needed - SSD to USB adapter?

I've got a 2015 Macbook Pro A1502 which has died due to liquid damage - I've removed the SSD and wanted to see if I can retrieve any data - I've got a USB 3 to SATA adapter but not one which will fit the small Samsung MZ-JPV2560/0A4 SSD - is it possible to get a USB adapter which will fit this so I can try to mount it on my iMac? If so, any recommended models? Thanks

Welcome to Mac-Forums.

You'll see a PCI Express (PCIe) to USB adapter..something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NING8K2/?tag=macforums0e4-20

Thanks - but is that the right model for a Macbook Pro? It says it doesn't work with mini PCIe and is 'not fit for macbook'

The problem is I'm not really sure of the correct terminology to describe what I need - is it mini PCIe or micro SATA? There seem to be so many different variations in size/connection that I'm not sure exactly what I should be searching for. I've seen some small case-style adapters that say mSATA Mini PCIe to USB but they don't appear to be the right shape for the SSD that I have, which is longer and thinner.

I don't know if that's the EXACT one you need, but its something like that one that has a PCIe connector on one side and USB 2/3 on the other side. Ask the question on Amazon to see if others who purchased that adapter can definitively tell you.

Hey there jon1001. If you can't find the proper adapter that you and Ashwin are discussing (which is pretty inexpensive at about $12-$15). I think that OWC (macsales.com) might have an external drive housing that fits that card from a 2015 MBP. But the external housing (somewhat similar to an external HD housing)...is kind of expensive at around $99.

Hi Nick

Thanks for that - the one you mention seems to be the only solution that specifically says that it will work with MBPs from 2013 to current - it needs to be 12+16 pins and most that I've found seem to be different. I may have to stump up the cash for it :-( Thanks for the info though.

Any joy?

I am faced with this exact problem. Has anyone identified a suitable adapter or is the OWC enclosure still the only option?
