Help! Undo Desktop Clean Up??

I right clicked on the desktop and hit clean up (out of curiosity I suppose) figuring I could then drag my icons back to where I want them. Now they seem to be locked in their rows and columns on the right side. I can select one and drag it, but it just snaps back to the last icon in the series.

Does anyone know how to undo this clean up so I can arrange my desktop in the messy free-for-all I'm accustomed to? I've searched all over and can't seem to find a solution.

ok.... right click again on the desktop, select show view option, and where it says arrange by, select "none"
