As I've posted elsewhere, I ended up doing a factory reset and restore of my iPhone 6s. Unfortunately, I had to restore from an old backup because I downgraded from the 12.3 beta to 12.2. Also unfortunately, the old backup had Homekit devices that I no longer have and didn't have the new devices that replaced them.

After about 30 hours Homekit still won't sync.

I've tried turning OFF KeyChain and Homekit in iCloud, rebooting the phone and turning both KeyChain and Homekit syncing back ON.

This didn't work.

Any other ideas? Can iMazing transfer Homekit data?

I didn't explain the problem clearly. Homekit is working fine from my iPad, my wife's iPhone, our daughter's iPhone and all of our Macs. The problem is only with my iPhone 6s which recently had a factory reset and restore from an old (July 18 backup). So, my iPhone, and only my iPhone, displays a Homekit devices that no longer exist and doesn't display the newer devices. It should sync up via iCloud; so there should be no need to set it up again or add devices. Apple says it can take up to 24 hours to sync. But, it has now been 48 hours and it's still not synced.

I had already tried the method described in the second article to which you linked. Didn't work for me.

Well iMazing didn't work. Their customer support seemed baffled. There's fifty bucks down the drain....

Here's what worked:

  • Turn OFF Home in iCloud
  • Reboot the iPhone
  • Open the Home app
  • When notified that you need iCloud enabled, click the button to enable it
  • The sync will start right away. All devices and automations are restored.

I'll bet you will appreciate using and having it later. :Smirk:

Congrats on getting a fix that worked.

Yeah, you're right. I've set it up to do automatic local backups. So much easier and clearer than iTunes.

I wonder what whatever replaces iTunes will be like as far as iDevice management?
