I have purchased an Apple SE2020 iPhone and when I sync it with my iMac desktop computer, it scrambles the order of all my Safari Bookmark Favourites some of which migrate into one another. The same thing happened when I synced my MacBook Air with the Mac. Can anyone please offer a solution to stop it happening? Maybe I just have to turn off iCloud and stop the syncing.

Have a look through some of the hits with this Google search:

I also wonder if you couldn't save your bookmarks and just use the appropriate export/import options as needed with the syncing disabled???

Just a thought, and I don't know if that would work as you wished or not.

EDIT:
Maybe this would be of some use to you and get the results that you want:
Sort, alphabetize, or rearrange bookmarks in Safari on Mac

Thanks for the reply Patrick. I am afraid I had already tried that and had the same effect but I have just spent ages manually altering all the Bookmarks on both the iMac and McBookAir and so far they have stayed as they should. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanks again fo the help

Thanks for your reply and I'm glad to hear you got everything sorted out, no pun intended, but according to Apple it should be a simple task... Yeah right...:

If you have to do it sometime later, maybe a Google search for a method that will work with older Mac OS versions if you happen to be using one of them:

I have managed to get my Bookmarks sorted but tried to make alterations on my iPhone and again it is trying to control my Mac. I have tried to turn off iCloud syncing to stop it but can't get it to work. Any one any ideas please? I have tried a Google search without success.

Did you come across this suggestion in your Google search:
If your iCloud or Safari bookmarks aren’t syncing

And I guess you could check some of these hits out in case you happen to have missed them:

Hopefully, there might be something helpful there but I don't have an answer, sorry.

Thanks Patrick. I had found those Google searches but I have now decided to give up on the bookmark problem and try to find a way for my iPhone not to sync with the computer.I thought I had but it still links with the computer and scrambles the Bookmarks. Can you please suggest the procedure to turn off iCloud to stop it syncing because I am obviously not getting it right?

@brbrown

The way I would do it is as follows:

On iPhone > Settings > Tap the top item which is Your Name under which it says "Apple ID, iCloud, Media & Purchases . This takes you into your Apple ID . Tap on iCloud > Tap on "Show All".

This will list everything syncing with iCloud. Scroll down to Safari and turn if OFF.

Sorry, no I can't as I gave up using my own old iPhone 4 a year or so ago and I almost avoid using most of the iCloud sync and stuff almost as though it was a plague.

I switched to using an Alcatel GO FLIP 3, which works and behaves as I would expect it to for my occasional usage.

Hopefully, some other members will give you some suggestions such as Ian's method above.

This seems like this would produce the opposite sorting to what one would want or is that another example of how Apple uses or sometimes misuses the English language...???

Anyway, let's hope it works for the OP.
