I literally get 100s of junk emails daily like most people. I delete them and then they show up in my "Recovered Messages" Mail folders which I have to delete again. How do I turn of "Recovered Messages" in Apple Mail app?

As far as I know, the "Recovered Messages" in Mail folders are not even normal and I would be inclined to do whatever you want to do with the contents and then delete those mailboxes.

You can probably get some help from Apple's web page:

And then I would start setting up some Mail Rules and spam filtering or even seriously consider adding a third party helper such as SpamSieve.app, especially if you get that much spam email a day.
SpamSieve:

And as far as I know, when deleting an email from a Mail mailbox, it would normally be placed into the Mail Trash and then deleted from there if it's definitely not needed or wanted.

You may also need to do some mailbox Rebuilding, available from the Mail menu.

I use Apple Mail on my Mac, and I use the junk icon to move spam to the junk folder, once applied any further mail from that source automatically goes to junk.

Hi @macnicol,

As far as I know, there's no direct way to disable the "Recovered Messages" folder in Apple Mail. It's a safety feature to prevent the potential loss of emails due to a software glitch or other issues.

However, there are a couple of things you could try. First, look into setting up better spam filters or rules as suggested by @pm-r, this could decrease the amount of junk you receive in the first place. The SpamSieve app recommended sounds like a solid choice.

Additionally, you can rebuild your mailbox in Mail. This can sometimes fix issues with messages reappearing. Just go to Mailbox > Rebuild in the Mail app.

Hope this adds any helpful info!
