I have updated my iPad to iPadOS 16 today. As it did on the iPhone, the time font for the lock screen is thick, and I want it to be thinner. I've looked for it at Apple.com, with no success. Does anybody know what the magic button is to allow that font to be changed to something not so thick? On the iPhone, in Settings/Wallpaper there is a button labelled "Customize" that allows for edits of the items on the screen, including the font. Not there on the iPad. So where did Apple hide it?

You would expect it to be in much the same place but we're away on a little holiday so haven't upgraded to 16 on my iPad yet.

It is not there. In iOS, you go to Settings/Wallpaper, select the one you want and there is a "Customize" button that lets you change fonts, limited in choice, but it's there. No such button in iPadOS. Maybe later, I guess. No reason NOT to have it, IMHO.

@Lifeisabeach, not unless Apple gives in to user complaints. It's clear that seperating the two operating systems was done for a reason, it just hasn't become as apparent until now. We already have seen the seperation of Quick Notes, Split Screen and Apple Pencil functions between iOS and iPadOS. I'm just waiting for a change in name, like pOS maybe. The days where an iPad was just a big iPhone may well be gone.
