I have version 10 of the QuickTime Player on the Snow Leopard OS and I have just purchased QuickTime Pro.

To activate QuickTime Pro, I am instructed to open the QuickTime Player icon within the System Preferences window.

However, the QuickTime Player icon is not present in my System Preferences window.

Thanks for any tips on how to activate QuickTime Pro in this situation.

Does that mean that QuickTime Pro is being phased out by Apple?
If so, is there a replacement software intended for Snow Leopard?
Thanks.

QuickTime X is the replacement for QuickTime 7, but it hasn't reached feature-parity in Snow Leopard, and apparently not yet in Lion either. Here's a more complete article on the matter.
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard: the Ars Technica review

If the features you need from QuickTime Pro 7 aren't in QuickTime X, then by all means stick with 7.

I can verify that Quicktime Player 7 (specifically, 7.6.6) continues to work just fine in Lion.

QuickTime Player X (the default QT player in Snow and Lion) has many but not ALL of the features of QuickTime Pro, so before you buy the license you should figure out what it is you need QT Pro to do, and then find out if QTX already does that.

How long QT7 (pro or otherwise) will continue to work beyond Lion, nobody but Apple can say -- but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.
