Ron using Sierra to Empty Caches get the 'Develop' Menu Bar Item. To do this go to Safari > Preferences > Advanced and the very bottom entry check the 'Show Develop etc.......".

When you do this more action become available including Empty caches and Disable Caches and so forth.

Then regarding flushing DNS caches, this only becomes necessary if you are having connection problems, 'Page Not Found' etc. To do this using the following Terminal Command:-

sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder

Keep us posted?

If you're on WiFi, I believe turning WiFi off for a few seconds and then turning it back on should clear out the resolver cache as part of the process of renewing your address.

If by that you mean you don't see your typing in any way, that is how terminal works. You put in passwords in the blind, so type carefully.

Do yourself a favor: never copy/paste something you find on the internet into Terminal, always enter it by hand. It is possible to show one thing on a page but when you copy it, it will be something else entirely.
Possibly something destructive.
