My Mac Pro 2013 will not recognise the PS4 input via the Mac HDMI port to show on the thunderbolt display. Why? How can I make this work?
The Thunderbolt display only has USB2 and Thunderbolt ports also but Mac Pro has USB3 and HDMI ports.

Thanks

Because the HDMI port on the Mac is for video output - as are all standard video ports built into computers - not input.

"If" the thunderbolt display will accept a signal from a standard displayport, you are likely going to need an "active" HDMI to displayport converter similar to this one and I'm not willing to state that will work as I've never attempted it.

Thanks.

I have heard that the extreme Cap 3 works with I Mac / PS4 set up but that uses the USB3 ports on the back of the iMac, where as my thunderbolt display has only USB 2 or Thunderbolt port. This is the link -

ExtremeCap U3 | AVerMedia

I think that I am probably the only one with this kind of set up. i.e No TV

There are plenty of gamers capturing their gameplay to a computer. Avermedia and Elgato make 2 examples of video capture devices for gamers. Need to make sure you get one that is going to work with OS X unless you have or are prepared to install Windows. Am sure there are others also. The key here would also be related to the amount of lag introduced, although USB 3 may be fast enough to have over come this for the most part. I def am not good enough to even consider recording my game play, so have not looked that hard into any of them,
