How to easily delete photos while browsing in Finder?

I organize my photos by importing them into Finder. Here I want to easily browse through my last import and delete as I go along, either when I´m in the "eye"-preview function or in the full-screen option. What happens is that when I delete one photo (using command+delete) it sends me out of the folder. Really annoying, because then I have to go into the folder again, and find back to the place where I was, and when deleting at least half of the photos I´ve taken, it´s not efficient at all... I know this is possible in iPhoto, but I do not want to organize my photos in iPhoto. The "Cover flow"-photos are too small to view the photos well enough to judge if I should delete.

So my question is:
* is there a way to do this without being sent out of the folder?
* or, is there a way to make the cover-flow photos really big...?

I would really highly recommend using a photo manager of some kind rather than using a general purpose file management utility (like Finder) - this is just a recipe for data loss. Not sure what you have against iPhoto, but it's great for this purpose. Another option I would recommend is ACDSee.

I'm not sure why you're being moved up a folder. If I duplicate what you're doing, I seem to stay in the same folder.

In answer to your second question, I would recommend using the tool shown here to enlarge your cover flow pictures:

Hm, you don´t? Go into folder with photos and bladder down in "list" view using the "quick look/slideshow"-button (the "eye"). When you find one you want to delete, press command+delete. This is where I would like the next photo to show up, instead of being sent out of the folder.

I tried the cover flow thing that you showed, and no, I don´t get sent out of the folder here. But i this view the photos aren´t big enough to see differences in two almost identical shots (15" Macbook Pro). On the attached photo I´ve maxed it, and it still covers only about 1/8 of my screen.

If you want to know the other things you are referring to that´s not really relevant to this question anyways: I always backup files to an ex hd at the same time so I´m not too scared of data loss. I use iPhoto for editing and like it a lot for that, but not for storage and attaching photos to other people on USB/e-mail/burning files on one disc.

Make a New Folder and name it 'whatever' and then drag it into the the sidebar in Finder and then when ever you see a picture you want to trash drag it into that Folder theta is now in the sidebar.
Then to trash them all go into it select all and trash them. To get rid of the folder in the sidebar cmd>shift>click drag and release the click to send it into poof heaven.

Doing this also lets you double check the pictures you are trashing. Just a option anyway.

I'd suggest Picasa for that task - free - way better than Finder - easy to scroll through your pics - "cmd del" will move the one you're viewing to the trash and bring up the next pic. Excellent import function there also.

This is what I use for both Windows and my Macs for importing, quick viewing, managing for anything that I'm not importing directly into iPhoto or Aperture.

I use iPhoto for editing and like it a lot for that, but not for storage and attaching photos to other people on USB/e-mail/burning files on one disc.

There is an Export function under "File" in the Menu Bar, so you can export entire events, albums, or selected photos to a Folder or USB drive.

Under iPhoto, go to Share in the menu bar...

A Burn function for burning to CD/DVD.
An email function for Emailing Photos through the Mail App.

It's laid out to be pretty simple.

@TattooedMac; don´t want to have to drag, want to use quickbuttons. Any way to move a file to another folder by quick-buttons?
@bobtomay: will look more in depth at Picasa, not sure I want another program though... this is just what I would like from the finder: "move the one you're viewing to the trash and bring up the next pic" :-D
@jagardn: I know it´s simple, I´ve used it before -not simple enough when you have lots of photos, but for my mother it would be good. Using "export" is an extra step I want to get rid of, and I have thousands of photos that are sorted into countries, different happenings, dates, years etc... can´t sort it like a "tree" in iPhoto.

I think you'll find Picasa will do exactly what you're looking for.
