This is REALLY handy. As the full article states there are other apps out there that can equalise audio on a Mac but this is open source and free. It is not a good idea to boost volume levels on any Apple device beyond the speaker's capacity but there are times when the volume levels of some media are so low as to be inaudible even at full volume or so bassy that spoken word is impossible to discern without turning the volume up higher than practical.
I use Boom myself but i wish this app had been available back then. The installation looks a little complex but Boom was exactly the same so dont be put off by that.
Do make a full backup before attempting installation though, this is always advised before installing any app that you are giving system access to and do read the instructions for uninstalling in the FAQ. If you are not confident that you can uninstall then don't install. Note that this version is a Beta.

I didn't notice that this was a beta. I downloaded the software but haven't run it yet.

I really hadn't thought of using the equalizer in AudioHijack for that purpose. Gonna have to give both methods a try and see which I prefer.
