I have downloaded some midi files which I have done before from this website. I just upgraded my OS to 10.9.1. The file extension was changed from .midi to .webloc. How do I change the file extension back to .midi so I can use it?

If you're sure they're midi files that were downloaded, just click on the file in Finder and select rename. Rename the extension to .midi

Thanks for offering a solution. So far, I have followed your information and so far no good. First I click on the screen that says Finder in the top left corner. Then I click on the file, Then it highlights. Nothing else happens. except it changes color indicating it is selected.Nothing opens up that says rename so, I look through all the headers and I find no rename command. I repeat the process. Then I click on the file and it highlights the name of the file but not the file extension. I can click again and eventually change the file extension but then when I try to use the file I get an error message. Any other suggestions?

Then the files that you're downloading are not true midi files. If you've renamed them to the file extension midi and they won't open or play, they're not midi files. Midi files are opened and played with QuickTime. The files you're downloading are probably just web files.

A .webloc file is a website url (shortcut) file.

Can only guess you are dragging the files to the desktop (or somewhere else). That does not download the file, it creates a shortcut to the web page.
