My internal mic stops working when i plug in my headphones!
I have a 17" macbook pro, 2.3GHz, MAC OS X. I don't know that much about computers but I know how to set sound input/output preferences etc.
When i am using Skype, I want to talk to people using my internal mic. But i want to be able to use my headphones too.
When my headphones ARENT plugged in, the mic works fine, but as soon as I plug the headphones in (normal apple headphone/earplugs) into the headphone jack, the internal mic stops working.
At system preferences the internal mic option simply disappears when the headphones are plugged in:
- Without the headphones in it says 'internal mic' which when I select it allows me to use my internal mic just fine.
- As soon as i plug headphones in the input changes from internal mic to external mic...
I'm not plugging the headphones in the wrong socket. It has worked fine for me in the past, but suddenly changes. I just can't select an internal mic when headphones are in....
This is really annoying as it produces feedback, and i can't ever have a private skype conversation!
Please if anyone has a clue re this that would be great. It used to work absolutely fine! I've tried everything I can think of.
