iPad problem with downloaded .pdf manual?

iMac 27" 2017 32 G ram MB Pro 2012 16 G ram iPad Air ser 5 2017 iPhone 11 xs max 256.
I have never done this before so if I am at fault I apologise in advance! I downloaded a pdf manual from the Web directly to my iPad Air which runs the latest OS but there was no way to tell where it downloaded to on the iPad?
I have looked for a download folder on the iPad without finding one, and even though I have a pdf viewer on the iPad I cannot find the pdf to view it?
Could anyone tell me where the default download folder is please?

Look in "Files" and see if it's there. It's an app.

If you have a lot of apps, the quickest way of locating "Files" is to scroll your way to the "Apps Library" usually at the far end and , in Search, put Files.
