Using iPhoto on my iMac to show photos taken at a recent conference to the conference leaders and every image ruined by every face having 'Unnamed' appearing underneath and no way to turn it off. Felt sure this would have been fixed by now. No way do I want to click every image of every face (250 photos, 180 people (179 of which I do not know the name of, nor do I care).

Can't imagine why Apple thought this was a good idea and hopefully someone can tell me that it possible in Photos to remove these tags. As I've not moved to Photos yet and no immediate plans to so has anyone got a method to switch this 'feature' off?

Well, the only way I can get those Unnamed boxes to appear is to view a picture by clicking on the Name button(in order to add Names) at the bottom of the window. So close the view window by clicking the Done button and view using the Edit button or using Fullscreen from the View Menu.

The easiest way to turn that off is open the Info panel on the left and click on the word Faces or the little arrow to the Right of the word Faces. It will say off on all pictures till you turn it back on

Brilliant (almost). That works but it resets itself each time you load iPhoto, necessitating repeating the operation which is a trifle annoying - but hey way better than having those boxes showing every time, so many thanks for this tip.

In the Photos top menu, 'File' then 'Hide Face Names' (in the third section of the drop down just under Metadata)
