Java PasswordSafe is safe?

Hi
I have been using PasswordSafeSWT http://jpwsafe.sourceforge.net/ for storing passwords but it requires me to install legacy java 6 on El Capitan on my iMac (Java 8 installed) before I can use it. I am unwilling to install the old java version https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?locale=en_US

But I have just noticed that very recently a version of Java PasswordSafe has been released that does not require me to install Java 6 - https://github.com/nresare/javapasswordsafe/releases/tag/v0.8.2-nresare.0

It appears to have the early Java bundled up in the application?

Does this mean that I don't have any security issue related to installing a legacy Java 6 if I use this new release.

Can I assume that the new release version of Java PasswordSafe is as secure and robust as any other Java Passwordsafe app, as I assume PasswordSafeSWT is to use.

I am a bit nervous about the plethora of programs offered and do wonder if I am being foolish to use them at times.

Is there a security risk in using a program that needs Java 6?
Tks

The risk of using an older version of Java means that it might not have the latest security updates. You might want to ditch the Java-based apps and explore something like the award winning 1Password.

US$36/yr seems cheap enough too when you have to support a big team

I have used the free Password Safe for many years, initially with various Windows PCs and now with the compatible PWSafe apps for both OSX and iOS.

Thanks for the link...gonna check it out.:)

Was checking the FAQ for this app. Always very funny when someone asks..."What if I lose my Master Password?" Nothing more hilarious (or sad) than someone who has forgotten their master password for a password security/organization app!;)

p.s. The "1Password" app is the same way. If the master password is forgotten...not a good thing.:(

I actually recommended this program to someone who is pretty computer illiterate, we set it up and entered a password. I made the point that he must remember the master password. A couple of weeks later, he needed the password he'd put in and, you've guessed, he had no idea what the master password was. I was trying to get him away from using virtually the same password for everything, but some people you just cannot help!

I came in late , but ( as it is today ) anything related JAVA is not safe.
That has been proven time and time again.
I wouldn't trust it one bit.

Cheers ... McBie
