Keynote not playing videos during presentation mode

I have a mac running 10.14.6 and keynote version 8.2. I am inserting a video, setting it to play when clicked. It works perfectly. When I connect it to a projector and go into presentation mode there is an 85% likelihood that the movie will not play. I have to go to the next slide, go back to the slide, and then click for the movie to work. Has anyone seen this? I've restarted the computer. I've used the arrow key and trackpad to click.

Since you're running Mojave, you can't update to the latest version of Keynote (11.0). Most of my presentations are done with Powerpoint but can be played back with Keynote. No problem with showing videos.

The only thing I can suggest is to redo the particular slide and try embedding the movie again. What format are the movies in?
