As the title says really.

When I open User/username/ Applications - The applications folder doesn't open. It's faded out, kind of ghost like looking compared to the other icons, and when I try to open it (by clicking on it) nothing happens. I right and left click on it and nothing happens.

Not sure if anyone else has come across this before, but I need to get into my applications folder and it just won't open.

Why aren't you opening the "system" Applications folder? Located on "drive name" > Applications. The folders in the user folders are not system folders.

What version of Mac OS X/OS X/macOS are you using? Be specific. Are there other folders in the same location, like; Desktop, Documents, Downloads, etc?

Hello there and thanks for the reply.

I'm using El Capitan and that's on a fairly old Mac Book Air.

This is all revolving around some software that I need to use that's not running properly and so I needed to save a 'config' file to a directory but couldn't open it.

This may help fill you in on some of the gaps as I've already discussed it in detail with someone else that very kindly tried to help me figure it out in this forum here: https://github.com/bitconnectcoin/bitconnectcoin/issues/13

Our discussion is at the bottom third of the thread.

That folder is not designed to be opened by clicking on it. The user applications folder exists for each user or account that you have on your Mac. Only certain specific apps are stored there and do not need to be opened from that folder.

The normal Applications folder is located under your Macintosh HD like this:

/Volumes/Macintosh HD/Applications/

You're going to need to explain in detail to us the problems you're having with that particular config file and not direct us to another link.

Ok I thought that link would help fill in some of the gaps.

Well, here goes.

So I downloaded a wallet (software) for my Mac. When I opened the wallet it kept coming up with a problem that was the fact that it wouldn't connect to a port.

I looked online and it turned out that many people had the same problem, and in one particular forum that I found (the one I linked to) there was a user who solved the problem for everyone.

Basically I had to download a config file for the software and ave it to a cert section of my Mac, that section was: /Users/Username/Library/Application Support/bitconnect

Now when I tried to open said paths, I got as far as 'username' but couldn't open the file that says 'library'. That file is kind of ghosted (faded) out and doesn't open, when apparently it should. Everyone else in the forum managed to fix their bug except for me, and that's where I'm stuck.

Does that help?

Kind regards

OK, we understand a bit better now. Thanks for the additional info.

Your user library is hidden by default which is the reason you can not access anything located in there. I just checked my user library and I do not have that app, however, here is how you can find it. Follow my directions below which will unhide your library and make it easier for you to move files there. There are several ways to unhide the user library but for file manipulation, this is the easiest way.

Open your terminal application: Applications/utilities/terminal.app and type the following in the terminal and then press enter: (copy and paste)

chflags nohidden ~/Library

After, you can close the terminal app. Your user library will now show up in the finder and should allow you to move the config file.

Let us know.
