Mac Mail showing two filter buttons

Some time ago, Mail all of a sudden started showing two filter buttons. I have restarted the computer numerous times, but the extra one does not go away. When I click on one, the other gets highlighted and they both filter based on the same criteria. Any thoughts on how to get rid of one of them? Maybe you have it twice on the toolbar options? Right click the toolbar, then "Customize" and get rid of one.

I've tried that. The icons will wiggle at first but when I click on one of the filter icons they stop shaking and I can't do anything except click Done to close the window. I also don't see the filter icon in the customize window so I'm not sure that is really an option.

Once the icons "wiggle," you use drag and drop to drag them from the bar to the window with the other icons. The reason the filter icon isn't in the window is that it is on the bar. When you drag/drop, it appears in the window.

But when I try to drag one of the filter icons off the bar all icons quit wiggling and the app essentially freezes

I just tried it and while it didn't freeze, the icons do stop wiggling and the only way out is "Done." Must be a bug with the toolbar. EDIT: All other icons DO drag, it's just the Filter one that doesn't.

About all I can suggest is to drag the defaults to the bar to re-establish them all, then drag off the toolbar what you don't want to see if that gets rid of the duplicate.

Then I'm stumped. You may have to wait until you get the next update to Mail, which is tightly integrated with the OS, so it will be the next update/upgrade to macOS.

That's kind of what I thought would be the case. Thanks for the suggestions!

If you mail is through IMAP all you mail is on your mail server, so you try to uninstall and reinstall, and then just add you mail boxes, and these would update from the server.

As it's not really a functional issue I'd be inclined to wait on an update as Jake suggested. I did try to duplicate the "problem" myself with no success so it's probably a minor glitch on that device.

Tried resetting the toolbar to the default and it did not help

I don't use Apple's version of that application software but yours seems to be working more or less according to their help support page you may want to check out and read over:

Filter emails in Mail on Mac

I don't know if that will help make some sense for your situation or not.
