I've google searched my problem: "Facebook Password Required" "Enter your password for account"

Many others have had this problem, but I cannot find a solution.
I've had this Mac Air (currently: macOS High Sierra 10.13.4) for over a year, and this is a new problem as of yesterday.

DETAIL:

1. Go to my desktop or on a webpage (using Safari), right-click (or double tap) picture (.jpg or .png) to bring up menu.
2. Select share to Facebook, then send.
3. Pop-up message states:
Facebook Password Required

Enter your password for "<my FB account>"
in Internet Accounts.

Options are Close or Continue

I select Continue

Internet Accounts window pops up.

Within this window is an inner pop up that says:

Can't connect to the account "Facebook".
Enter the password for user "<my FB account>".
Password:

I enter the correct password.

This message appears in red under the password field:
Unable to verify account name or password.

Result: I can't share pics using my Mac from the web or my desktop to FB.

This happens despite the fact that I can go to a webpage and use FB (password is correct).

What I've tried that has not worked:
- Delete and re-add FB account from Internet Accounts (on Mac).
- Delete FB from Key Access
- Shutdown and restart Mac

Like I said, others appear to have had this problem when I search both google and twitter.

Looking for help solving this problem, please.

Scott

A warm welcome to Mac-Forums, Scott.

You are correct. This is a problem with some users.

This is what you did (in part):

Can't connect to the account "Facebook".
Enter the password for user "<my FB account>".
Password:

I enter the correct password.

This message appears in red under the password field:
Unable to verify account name or password.

I got the same response just now. When you get to the "unable to verify...." bit, try cancel. Wait. Then click on FB again. In other words, don't exit Internet Accounts. This should clear things.

I've had this problem on a recurring, but intermittent basis. Sometimes, when in Internet Accounts > Facebook all is well i.e. nothing happens. Other times, the request for PW. Sometimes accepted right away, other times "unable to verify...". Click Cancel.. Wait. Click on FB. All okay.

FB has changed its GUI and PW input options recently, which may explain things. I now use 2FA (2FV) for this account and have my iMac verified as a trusted Device along with my iPad Pro. Since doing that, the frequency of this irritating "bug" has diminished.

BTW, this rarely happens if I upload pictures direct from my Photos app, via share. Maybe you might consider sending pictures from Photos rather than your Desktop??

I'm also having random 'enter facebook password' messages which I ignore. I usually pull photos in from the facebook end.

Can you not open your FB page and upload into your FB page from the Desktop? I still can.

Just a thought here, but does your normal Mac OS username password work to open and use your Keychain Access.app???

If not, it won't open or provide your various passwords when asked.

And/or, are you using any thirdparty password utility that hasn't been configured properly???

But it sounds more like FB has something screwed up. Not that unusual. :Grimmace:

Not using third party password apps. I can open Key Chain access without any problems.

Tried that after reading your reply. No change. Even trying to post via Photos app. Basically, trying to post via Mac (Share off of menu), doesn't work. I can log into facebook and post from there. But that's more steps. If I see a pic on the web, I have to save it to desktop, then upload via FB page. Inconvenient vs what I've been doing for the past 5 years: right click pic from web or desktop > Share > FB... this doesn't work anymore. Frustrating.

I am having the same problem with Accounts preferences and Facebook login see; http://www.mac-forums.com/macos-app...ogin-accounts-accept-password.html?highlight=
It has been suggested I should initiate 2FA and you might like to consider this route. I have not done so yet so i cannot contest if this works. Personally I load my photos from my desktop via Facebook but I can understand why this might seem a bit leggy if you do this a lot. Alternatively I can load direct from the Camera Roll on my iPhone.

I've tried 2FA. Problem remains. I'm doing the same work around as you. Leggy indeed...

Well I have posted the issue to Facebook community, we will see what happens. One thing that does puzzle me is that as i am getting notifications to login to Facebook via the Notification Centre that would seem to indicate some app integration in macOS so why cant I access other integrated features like Contacts or in falk20's case photo posting. This might just turn out to be a macOSX High Sierra issue after all.

Oh Rod, I am sorry. You do your best and "the other side" let you down.

I hope this gets resolved quickly.

FWIW: I've been having problems with FB for several months now using Mavericks that has mow got progressively worse using its Comments in Safari v. 9.1.3, that now don't usually work.
They work fine using the latest versions of Firefox.

Seldom are there decent current solutions to get FB problems sorted out and working properly it seems. And I'm sure many of the various changes they seem to do don't help the situation.

I've been having issues on and off, for a couple of months, but they usually worked themselves out, by logging out and back in, using System Preferences > Internet Accounts. That seems to have stopped working, now. I don't know when the issue began I just noticed it three days ago, and I don't use Facebook enough to care. I tend to read articles online and share that way, but not anymore. Facebook seems to want me to stop using their service.

Bob, I know what you mean. Thankfully it's not really a big issue for me and there are workarounds for most if not all issues. It's just one of those things that is supposed to work but doesn't. I'm at a bit of a loss now. Maybe I will get a reply from the Facebook Community site?
