Hello all -

I have a 2019 MacBook Pro 16. All is well, absolutely love the machine; however, I would like to know if there is a smaller charging adapter available? The large one supplied with the computer is working fine. My issue is, I live on my sailboat and the adapter is almost too large to fit into the most accessible power outlet. Searches on Google, The Apple Store, and Amazon have turned up little. Anyone know of anything? Thanks!

I wish that I did, but I have to caution you against using third party MacBook chargers. I've tried several, and they get scary hot, and they usually die after only a few months.

Also, have you heard of those few cases in the media where folks' MacBooks have been put on the charger and they either exploded or caught fire? Some investigation will show that in each of those cases the user had a third party charger, not a genuine Apple charger.

So it's probably best not to use any charger other than a genuine Apple charger. However, the solution might be to simply use a high capacity extension cord that will fit the available space, such as this one, with your Apple charger:

I agree with you on this. I was hopeful for an Apple solution. It's working as it is, I'm just looking for something a bit better.

There is an Apple "extension" cord for the charger but its expensive and only fits the charger with the interchangeable plug. Why not just use a short, good quality extension cable?
It looks like this;

I found this one on eBay (Power Extension Cable Cord Lead Apple Macbook Pro Air Wall Charger Adapter New) for $7.50 but as you can see you need the charger with the option to connect it.

I looked at that one and other similar to it, but I'm a bit skitish on those for reasons listed above.

This device does not appear to be like some of the cheap $3± Chinese/ Asian units that some people buy and that can sometimes burst into Flame but as it says further down on the page:
Certificated by FCC & RoHS,It is 100% safe for you to use it.

It's a bit confusing to me. Are you plugging the "brick" directly into the outlet? If so, either what Rod suggested, or whatever has the right plug on it from Apple should help:

That one is for the US, there are cords for all countries where Apple sells, which is pretty much all of them.

I think the word of warning here is about charging ANY lithium battery with a charger that is NOT DESIGNED for it. There have been a number of fires in the UK and world wide caused by lithium battery charging, and in most cases people were using alternative chargers. Lithium is only dangerous is handled incorrectly, and one of the incorrect handling caused is an unsuitable charger.
