Hi there I bought a MacBook from someone and keep getting an NTLDR message.

I have tried everything suggested on forms without any success

Is there anyway I can get any operating system on it I.e Mac preferbaly or windows or even a Linux operating system so i can atleast use it

Any help or step by step guid would be really appreciated

Welcome to our forums.

That message only refers to Windows not OS X.

Do this: Reboot your computer and hold down the "Option" key as soon as you hear the boot sound (bong). Keep holding it until the Apple appears. If the machine has been setup to dual boot, you should have a choice of booting to OS X (Macintosh HD) or Windows. Choose Macintosh HD. Let us know what happens.

Wonder why you purchased a 2006 model, however buy from Apple Online Snow Leopard OS X.6 for$20 including postage, pop the disc in and boot from it by restarting and holding down'C'. Then format the hard drive Mac OS Extended and proceed with the install.

Just picture of one hard drive that says windows under it and when I click that it shows up the error message again NTLDR missing

Sat All night and cracked it, now have a full working MacBook pro running on snow leopard 10.6.8
